Students recently took part in two days of fieldwork as part of their Geography GCSE, giving them the opportunity to see the theories they have been learning in the classroom brought to life.
Their first visit was to Epping Forest, where students investigated how Loughton Brook changes from its upper to lower course. As the area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the landscape remains largely untouched, allowing students to observe some fantastic real-world examples of river features, including well-developed meanders.
The following week, students braved a rather windy day at East Village to explore their urban sustainability case study in person and consider how sustainable the development truly is. Students showed great confidence and leadership by carrying out surveys with members of the public to gather first-hand opinions.
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their fieldwork skills and deepen their understanding of the topics they have been studying in class.
