Image Security Statement

Photography and Images on Our Website

Trinity School uses photographs and videos on its website and social media channels to celebrate student achievement, showcase school life, and share news with our community. Images may appear on our website, in newsletters, on social media platforms, and in printed materials such as prospectuses.

We only publish images of students where we have obtained consent from a parent or carer. Consent forms explain where images may be used and how long they may remain online. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the school office. Where students are of sufficient age and maturity to make their own decisions, we also seek their consent in addition to that of their parent or carer.

We do not publish images alongside a student's full name. Where names are used in news articles or posts celebrating individual achievement, we use first names only unless a parent or carer has given explicit consent for a full name to be used.

Image Security and Data Protection

Photographs of identifiable students are personal data under UK GDPR. We manage student imagery in line with our data protection obligations, including the principles of data minimisation and storage limitation. We do not retain images for longer than necessary, and we review published imagery on a regular basis to remove images of students who have left the school.

We take steps to reduce the technical risks associated with published images, including working with our website provider to minimise the risk of image files carrying embedded metadata (such as GPS location or timestamps) that could reveal information about students or school routines. Images are served at web-appropriate resolution rather than as full-resolution originals.

AI Image Manipulation: What We Are Doing to Protect Students

We are aware that advances in artificial intelligence mean that photographs published online can be manipulated or misused in ways that were not possible previously. This includes the use of AI tools to alter images of children and young people to create harmful content.

Trinity School takes this risk seriously as part of its safeguarding responsibilities. In response to guidance from the UK Online Harms Early Warning Working Group and the wider safeguarding community, we have taken the following steps:

  • We conduct regular audits of student imagery published on our website and social media channels.
  • We seek to use photography styles that reduce the identifiability of individual students where possible, such as wider-angle, activity-focused, or over-the-shoulder images.
  • We provide staff with guidance on safe image capture and publication practice.
  • We ensure that our consent forms reflect current risks, including the potential for AI manipulation of published images.

If you have any concerns about how your child's image is used, or if you become aware of any misuse of images published by the school, please contact us at office@trinitysevenoaks.com or speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
