Operation Christmas Child (OCC)

For the seventh year in a row, Trinity has taken part in Operation Christmas Child, partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to share Jesus’ love in a practical way. With an ambitious target of 500 shoeboxes, our school community collected an amazing 492 boxes - a fantastic achievement.

Collection Day on the 18th November was especially memorable. Watching the Year 7 human chain stretching from the main hall to the van - with lots of laughter, singing, and teamwork - beautifully captured the heart of OCC.

Each box, soon to be sent to children across Central Asia and Eastern Europe, is packed with essential items and thoughtful gifts to bring hope and joy this Christmas.

A heartfelt thank you to every student, family, and member of staff who contributed. Your kindness has made a tangible difference in the lives of children around the world.

On Friday, 29th November, a group of ten Sixth Form students, accompanied by Mrs. Curtis and organised by Adam, visited the OCC regional packing centre in Tonbridge. This trip was a valuable opportunity for our students to demonstrate leadership and service, and they represented the school exceptionally well.

Throughout the morning, students actively participated in checking, filling, labelling, and sorting shoeboxes destined for children across Central Asia. It was inspiring to see the scale of the operation, with the centre processing an impressive 5,000 boxes per day. We learned that the previous day’s shipment was bound for Belarus, while today’s boxes were headed to Moldova, and Trinity’s contribution specifically went to Kazakhstan.

Assigned to various stations, teams of five worked diligently over three hours, helping to pack a total of 1,750 boxes by the end of the morning - all with Christmas music providing a festive boost! Remarkably, we were proud to hear that Trinity’s donation was the single largest in the whole of Kent, a testament to the generosity and commitment of our school community.

This experience deepened our understanding of the Operation Christmas Child project, offering a powerful insight into the global impact of these shoeboxes. It was a humbling reminder of how small acts of service can make a tangible difference in the lives of children worldwide, and our students left with a renewed sense of purpose and compassion. We look forward to returning next year!
