Key Stage 3: Years 7, 8 & 9

A Core Curriculum

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is broad and balanced curriculum and is studied over three years. Students study the full range of national curriculum subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, Languages, Humanities, PE, Technology, the Arts, Computing, Religious Education, PSHE and Careers Education. This provides an excellent foundation for both Key Stage 4 and the Sixth Form. A three year Key Stage 3 allows teachers to explore content in more detail, giving students an improved grounding in each subject they study and creates inquisitive and eager learners. It also allows students the opportunity to accumulate knowledge, behaviours, and skills to demonstrates and develop their cultural awareness.

Options in year 9

Students are able to select two options in year 9, with a further two selected a year later as they start year 10. The rest of their curriculum remains core with all students studying English, mathematics, science, geography and history in year 9. The vast majority also study a language until the end of year 9 with a small number of students receiving extra support in literacy instead.

Students pick two subjects from art, design technology, drama, music, photography, business studies, computer science, food and PE.
