    Congratulations to Iona!

World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore

Iona's first final of the World Championships was the Women's SM7 200m Individual Medley. Iona impressively moved up through the field in the breaststroke leg of the Women's SM7 200m Individual Medley contest to land herself a brilliant bronze – her maiden world championship medal.

Meanwhile in her second event of these championships, Iona produced a brilliant swim to lower her Women’s SB7 100m BreaststrokeIona6 British record to 1:26.57 on route to securing a silver medal – Britain’s first medal of competition day three in the OCBC Aquatic Centre.

Providing chase to a world record breaking swim from Mariia Pavlova (NPA), she gained almost half a second back on her rival in the return length as she powered into the finish – adding more silverware to her opening day Individual Medley bronze.

In the Woman's S7 50m Butterfly event. Iona fought a very fast race to come 9th overall just missing out on a place in the final.

In her final event the Women’s S7 50m Freestyle, it was a very close event  with Iona just a tenth of a second outside of the medal places as she produced a huge new lifetime best of 33.77 to finish fourth on the world stage.

During their time in Singapore prior to the competition, the GB team attended an event hosted by the British High Commission in Singapore, were the athletes were presented with their competition caps by the Duke of Edinburgh. Iona was one of the group who was introduced to the Duke and selected for an interview on their Social media.
