Science Quiz

On Monday 11th March, as part of our British Science Week celebrations, Trinity School hosted the inaugural WKSATA Science Quiz, seeing teams from Knole Academy, Hadlow Rural Community College, Cranbrook School and Trinity School battling it out to win plaudits of the best Science quiz team.

After five challenging rounds, including themes of ‘Elements of the Periodic Table’, ‘The Sound of Silence Science?’ and ‘Amazing Plants & Animals’, both the KS3 and KS4 Trinity School teams were close to pole position, leaving it all to play for as they went into the final round of ‘Science Dingbats’ (Dingbats are visual word puzzles from which a well-known phrase or saying has to be identified).

Unfortunately, the Dingbats proved a little too cryptic for the KS3 team who finished in a commendable second place – a big well done goes to Andrew, Penny, Katherine, Lily, Joseph and Oliver.

There was greater success for the KS4 team where the ‘Science Dingbats’ round saw them gain three extra points than the team in first, placing them tied in first place – the trophy was therefore going to be decided on the single throw of a paper airplane. The team whose airplane flew the furthest distance would be the winners.

Success! Some fantastic engineering from James and expert paper airplane throwing by Barnaby saw the KS4 team crowned WKSATA Science Quiz champions! Congratulations goes to Jessica, James, Barnaby, Olivia, Martha and Jonah. Thank you to everyone who took part in the event to make it a successful and fun afternoon celebrating everything that is so amazing about Science.
