GCSE Results Day
We are delighted with the achievements of our students. As a year group, they worked diligently and tackled the exams with tremendous composure.
These were impressive results for our second cohort of students, building on a strong performance in 2018. In particular, almost a quarter of all grades were 7 or higher with 88% of all students passing mathematics and 85% passing English. Students also for the second consecutive year outperformed their expected grades showing better progress than the national expectations. The average score per student ranks us in the top 15% of schools nationally compared with last year’s results.
Particular mention to Patrick Cox (11 grade 9s), Alessa Iveson (9 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s) and Matthew Malcomson (8 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s) who achieved grade 8s and 9s across the board. This shows a genuine commitment to excellence both in the students and teaching staff.
Students are now set to embark on sixth form courses as our second cohort. We are excited for what the next two years have in store for these students whose drive to succeed has served them well to this point. The sixth form programme aims to build not only academically on the progress made to date but beyond that to develop students in preparation for higher study and working life.
Headteacher Dr Pawson comments that. ‘we are pleased with our second set of GCSE results and is testament to the commitment and hard work of both students and staff. It is important that we continue to build on the previous year’s success which we have done’.
