Supporting statement for the UCAS process;
Established in 2013, Trinity School is a non-selective free school in Sevenoaks, Kent. The vast majority of students are from White British backgrounds and the proportion of disadvantaged students is below the national average, with 7% receiving a bursary in Y13. Due to the expansion of the school, the current Year 13 cohort has experienced a large degree of change over the course of their secondary education. This current Y13 year group consists of 72 students. The majority of students study 3 A Levels or a combination of A Levels with BTEC or CTEC subjects. Approximately 70% of students intend to go on into Higher education. In 2020, our first cohort went to university following centre-assessed grades; as such, 2021 will be the first year students sit A level exams at Trinity.
The school went into lockdown on March 20th 2020. Initial support for Y12 (our current Year 13 cohort) was provided using online materials, allowing students to continue working on lesson content remotely via our SharePoint area. Students were given the option to submit work via email or to upload work directly to the school’s virtual learning environment. After Easter, recorded video lessons were also provided on SharePoint and live lessons were delivered using Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams. This facilitated face-to-face interaction with students for the remainder of the academic year. After June half-term, regular in-school sessions were made available for targeted courses, with a focus on subjects with a practical element. Students had opportunities to contact teachers throughout the period via email and in small groups on Zoom/Teams. End of year assessments were held for all subjects.
