History

Introduction

“To know nothing of what happened before you were born is to forever remain a child.” – Cicero

The study of their history is a vital part of any child’s journey to becoming an effective member of society. The History Department at Trinity School is dedicated to providing every child with an opportunity to explore the rich tapestry of their own history as well as that of other nations and cultures around the world.

Key Stage 3

At KS3 Year 7 we start with a history skills module and work our way through to the Middle Ages, followed by a tour through the many significant periods of our past, including the Reformation and the world wars.

Key Stage 4

At KS4 we offer the Edexcel (9-1) History course, including papers on crime and punishment through time, Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, the American West and Nazi Germany. We believe studying History provides our students with the skillset required to engage critically with the world around them and sets them up for a diverse number of careers. At A Level we plan to offer the full Edexcel A Level, with options in British and American History as well as a depth study in warfare with a view of providing our students a competitive qualification that will open access to any number of the UK’s universities and apprenticeships.
The History department also provide opportunities for extracurricular activities, including trips abroad to Belgium to see the Battlefields and a trip to Berlin to see the impact of the Nazi and communist regimes on one of Europe’s biggest cities.
